I get that feeling already before I attempt to scan it,
that's why I rarely upload anything at all. :XD:

Haha TOTALLY!;)

I never use the scanner anymore because I'm afraid of all the "wrongs" different colouring. And I barely paint digitally because... I suck on it haha!
I use my phone.... it washes away all the wrongs instead hahahahaha....:(

Your art is so amazing yet again, so inspiring <3

I have an iPhone 4S, the camera suck:D
But I need to stop using it seriously. Try and scan some stuff soon and "clean" in PS or something.

Started alot of Naruto fanart.. haven't put up fanarts of Naruto in years... like like..5 years or something.. my skillz improved alot.
Found an oldie yesterday.. laughed so hard because it's terrible.. although my predictions of the shippuuden looks on the characters were almost spot on in hair etc haha*hidden konoha skillz*

You welcome hun!

What specifically in the scanned artwork that you find disappointing compared to the better, in-real-life version?

Changing scan parameters and/or touching up in with an art software post-scan may help. Let me know!

its simply the fact that..when a traditional artwork gets scanned....its becomes...less ...traditional..for example a shadow on paper looks like a complete smudge on the screen or the topne that the paper gets from when your hand has been and gives the apper a darker view on screen it just looks dirty and somth u need to clean...its just not the real deal anymore...
i guess im just too sensitive to that stuff..i love the feel of paper in my hands and the way pencil touches it...

also i don't know why, but as soon as i scan somth in i see all the mistakes i did that where not there when i look at paper version..its strange..maybe the angle?

If that's the case, I think touching it up after scanning would be better to take away the mistakes. I have experienced that before, so I change bright/contrast within the scanning software post-scan and then it goes away.
"shadows on the paper" never happen in my scans. I usually drew on 1 sheet of computer paper, not a book. Perhaps you are scanning from a sketchbook and the binding of the book (binded, not spiral bound) causes the page to be uneven during the scan. This can cause the shadows.

Lastly, I get the feeling your scanner is disappointing you, not necessarily your art skills. While you do find dissatisfaction in your uploaded scanned pieces, I do not see such "ugliness" you speak of. I see amazingness.

I know the feeling... my scanner just became my greatest enemy. Shows every mistakes and screws up all the colours -.-; *deep sigh* we should find the god of scanners and maybe offer a sacrifice? ^^; I really dunno... XD
