so this is my answer...i think Itachi would have killed kakashi BUT i think he would have told him everything about his past and plan for sasuke and all..
like saying
"Im so sorry you have to die Kakashi san but you will not die in vein...you will die for the sake of peace..."

but then again...its just my opinion..im just sayin'
